In 1938 Arthur E. Evans established Evans Electroselenium Ltd. (EEL) with his brother Ernie based in Harlow. During the 1950s a new production facility was established in Colchester Road, Halstead, a site that continued to operate until 2003.

The following video, based on a presentation originally produced by ex-MD of the company, Malcolm Willis, charts the progress of EEL from its beginnings in 1938 to its current Siemens Healthcare ownership.
